  1. Extremely looking forward to this conference. Perhaps we could get the ball rolling? Could fashion ever be ethical? We have come to a point so far in our fashion consumption, cheap high street clothes permeating through our wardrobe. Are we now at a point where the genie cant be put back into the bottle?

  2. I've just been at a weekend festival where there were many forms of 'alternative' fashion on offer, from vintage clothes, to modern imports from Africa, to items made from ethical and organic materials. My own outfit included a home-made skirt from clothkits. These are all interesting initiatives but the difficulty lies in scaling them up. Or perhaps that's not the point - perhaps 'alternative' fashion is meant to be small-scale.

  3. The question is though how ethical is ethical? when imports from Africa are still having an effect on the world through their journey to the consumer. Organic materials are wonderful but are the growers given a fair share, and again the problem lies in transport. There is so much wool in this country and the worrying thing is that its worth more to the farmers to burn it rather than sell it on. Therefore it makes you wonder how ethical and cheaply made outsourced resources and materials are?
